Fun with Friends

We always love for friends to visit and this past visit was nothing less than spectacular. Despite the slumber party in our tiny apartment for a long weekend, everyone was cozy and had a great time. The Baucoms are very chill and easy going which made the weekend relaxed and stress-free.

A few of the city memories included the following...a visit to Wall St. to see the protestors.
(The Baucoms are the goofy ones smiling at the camera)

...a visit to Tiffany & Co. to see the World Series Trophy (Go Cardinals!)

...a trip to Modell's to see the My Hero's store in Time's Square

...a quick stop to show some love to Bumble Bee (Autobots! Roll Out!)

...a pit stop at Ben's Pizza to refuel and pay homage to Men in Black

...pause for a fashion moment in SoHo

...resting the pups in a shoe store while Lauren finds AMAZING boots (I like the guy in the background trying to squeeze in the picture)

...time for some Bubble Tea in Chinatown (YUMMY! Well, that's subjective)

...wrapping it up on Top of the Rock (Rockefeller Center)

Quick Quip

I panicked! I thought I found my first grey hair the other day. Nope, it was just my dry shampoo. Phew! That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

For 2 great dry shampoos, try either of the below options. Not so sure how they work on darker shades of hair, but they work wonders on blonde! Va-Va-Voom, Y'all!

Staten Island Half Marathon

So I thought a good warm-up to the ING Marathon would be to run the Staten Island Half Marathon. I thought I was in pretty good shape, but the truth is, I don't feel quite prepared for the Marathon which is less than a month away. Despite the fact that I am getting over a head-cold, I feel like this race should have been easier. The hills were the worst part. Is it possible to do more hill work between now and November 6th and it be effective??? Ugh. I fear my confidence is shot. Any suggestions? Any?

Nevertheless, it was great to spend the day with a good friend, Rebecca Tessin. She was a rockstar on the course! Thank goodness she was there to tug me along. We made the best of the adventure to Staten Island and the beautiful weather we were blessed with.

CU in the Creek

After 4 years of college and several years away from The Creek (a.k.a Buies Creek, NC), it was time to venture down the road to our alma mater, Campbell University. An alumni flag-football tournament was just the ticket to get several of our friends back on the campus.

My Hero and I finally made it to a hotel near campus around 3:00AM. Perfect. 4 hours of beauty rest later, we were up and 'attem and on the field. Well, my better half was on the field, while I was on the side lines donning my best cheerleading smile. My wonderful aunt and uncle showed up to cheer on the boys too! It was quite nostalgic to be cheering on the Killer Beez again and so great to see the boys together. They still had some good moves and took it to the house on a team of current students, but lost that game in the end. They beat the other alumni team though which is what really mattered...thank goodness.

The night ended on a high note with a special dinner in our old cafeteria on campus...HA! I'm not kidding, but it seriously couldn't have been anymore perfect. My Hero was honored by the retirement of the jersey of T-W-O teams he played on at Campbell - PEN15 and Killer Beez. The speeches were all very memorable and I don't remember the last time we all laughed so genuinely hard.

The boys hit the field the next day for a few more games and we ended a fabulous weekend by hijacking a BoJangles dining room. Evidentiary support of the above mentioned statements follows...
